Dr. Richard M. Furr, President, brings over 30 years of experience and expertise to Furr Resources in developing high performance organizations, providing support for change initiatives and transforming corporate cultures to align with their strategies. More specifically, this includes his work with boards of directors, mergers and acquisitions, and consolidations in integrating the teams and cultures.
A Licensed Psychologist, Dr. Furr is a graduate of William and Mary and earned a Ph.D. in Organizational
Psychology from the University of Tennessee. He was on the business faculty at American University in
Washington, D.C.
As a consultant he works both nationally and internationally at the executive level with
a wide variety of organizations such as Microsoft, Duke Energy, First Union, Sara Lee Corporation, British
Oxygen, and DHL.
Dr. Furr has published articles in several professional journals and has written chapters in books on
consulting practices. He is certified in the work of Dr. Edward de Bono, The Six Thinking Hats®, and
applies these tools for creativity and innovation in his consulting practice. With a colleague, he won the
1998 David Campbell Award for Creativity and Innovation from the Piedmont Chapter of ASTD, for his SIGNATURE LEADERSHIP Series, an organizational and executive development program.
Lana J. Furr, Vice President, co-founded Furr Resources, Inc. An honors graduate of Wake Forest University with a degree in communications, Lana has over 30 years of experience in organizational, team and leadership development work. Prior to co-founding Furr Resources, she worked with other consulting firms for over 20 years. She began her career with the Wachovia Corporation.
Included in her work, Lana has researched, co-designed and developed the SIGNATURE LEADERSHIP® Series. The Series won the 1998 David Campbell Award for Creativity and Innovation from the Piedmont Chapter of ASTD. She is Master Certified in Edward de Bono’s work and uses it to consult with organizations in organizational innovation in addition to her work with boards of directors.
Lana was also awarded the ASTD Trainer of the Year Award in 1992, and she has been published in Supervisory Management, The Corporate Board and several other publications in the USA and internationally. Her clients have included organizations such as Microsoft, IBM, DuPont, Hoescht Celanese, AT&T, and Sara Lee Corporation.
